If your old water has finally stopped working, it is time to get a new one. Since it has probably been quite a while since you looked at waters, you may not be sure what you need. Many home improvement stores or plumbing supply stores will have specialists who can tell you all about what is available and help you choose the right one for your situation. There are electric water heaters, gas water heaters, and even tankless water heaters gas powered units which are very energy efficient.
Tankless water heaters gas powered units or electric powered units are new, yet they have been around for years. People are just beginning to discover how energy-efficient and cost effective they really are. With your old water heater, did you ever run out of hot water when your teenager needed to take a shower while the washer was running? What about the time you were in the shower and it suddenly switched from hot to cold because your teenager began their own shower? These problems can be totally eliminated by using tankless systems.
With a traditional water heater, you have to have a tank that holds enough water to meet the needs of your household. Most homes need 40 or 50 gallon tanks. The tankless water heaters gas unit can process much more heated water than that at the same time. A typical shower uses about 2 ½ gallons per minute, but the tankless system provides approximately 6 or 7 gallons of hot water per minute. You can see that there is plenty of hot water available for everyone whenever they need it.
With the tankless water heaters gas system, the unit is about one-fifth the size of the traditional unit. The beauty of the system is that there is no tank. When the hot water faucet turns on, water is pulled into the system. The burners turn on and super-heat the water to the desired temperature, and it is sent to the faucet almost instantaneously. Then, as soon as the hot water faucet is turned off, the burners go off. There is no need for a reservoir to hold hot water ready, and none of the expense often associated with losing heat from the surface of the hot water tank. The entire unit is much smaller, which saves you room, and it can even be installed on an outside wall, thus freeing up space inside your home.
Maintenance of the tankless water heaters gas powered unit is very minimal compared to a traditional water heater and its tank. The technology of the sophisticated computer controls is very dependable. One can set the water temperature and it is accurately maintained within 3 degrees of that temperature. Neither the volume of the water or the water pressure affects the temperature, although the computer is equipped to monitor both incoming and outgoing water volume and pressure. In the case of a malfunction, the computer will provide analysis and diagnostic information for easy repair. This type of system is definitely one to consider when looking at a new water heater for your house.
